Welcome to SPECTRE!

This presentation walks you through the entire SPECTRE package including the database management cycle, covering all the screens in the order in which they are normally presented. However, please bear in mind that, within the estimation sequence, SPECTRE is completely flexible: you can visit and revisit each screen as often as you like and in any order, and request an estimate at any time provided no mandatory inputs are missing. You can alter anything you wish and the estimate will reflect it immediately.

Please note that the Help Text in this presentation is displayed screen by screen. In normal interactive practice the Help Text is item-specific and is displayed:

in response to F1 for the selected item, or
via selection from the Help Text Index

Also note that the Help Text for Results will normally be displayed via the Display Results button

The User Name displayed is the name supplied by the customer when SPECTRE was purchased but you can override this at run time. Please note also that SPECTRE can be incorporated in an automated sequence: you can Call SPECTRE from within one of your own programs with or without a User Name as a parameter; if a User Name is specified, SPECTRE bypasses the Login step and starts with the GENERAL DETAILS display (see the next panel).
